2005 Yakima Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

2005 STEVENSXY

This is the 3rd release of our coveted 2005 StevensXY Reserve Cabernet. Once again, we selected a small grouping of our favorite barrels to put into this very muscular all Cab blend. We used more new French oak (75%) to drive the fruit and tannins. The result is a wine that accelerates you smoothly into the fast lane. The fruit for this years blend came from two sources: Dineen Vineyard in the Upper Yakima, which brought lots of cocoa and black raspberry flavors, while the DuBrul Vineyard, Mid Yakima Valley, lent structure, earthiness and finesse. The combo creates a wine that showcases the Valley’s unique character. This is a go big or go home wine that can be consumed on release, but may also be cellared for years to come. 180 cases produced.

Stevens 2005 XY Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon; 91 Points $42
Elegance is the word for this lovely 100 percent cabernet, supple, fruit-driven and immediately enjoyable. It displays the sort of finesse that is more commonly found in Bordeaux than America.

2005 Stevens Winery XY Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2005 StevensXY Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is 100% varietal sourced from the Dineen and DeBrul Vineyards and aged in 75% new French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it reveals an alluring perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, black currant, and blackberry. This leads to a firm, structured wine with layers of sweet fruit, excellent intensity, and enough structure to evolve for 4-6 years. This ripe balanced, lengthy wine should be in its prime from 2012 to 2020.
