Once again, the 2006 vintage reflects our desire and passion to create a wine that has balance, elegance and finesse with Cabernet Franc acting as the outward expression and Cabernet Sauvignon as the inner-soul.
This year’s blend contains 44% Cabernet Franc, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot. We welcomed Meek Vineyard into the 424 Family for the first time, and paired it once again with Sheridan Vineyard, Dineen Vineyard and DuBrul Vineyard to create an awesome foursome. The ‘06 growing season gave us low yields especially within the Cab Franc blocks, which produced smaller berry sizes and firmer tannins. This element gave the blend a bolder, juicier and longer sustained finish. A small bit of Merlot was added to give poise and texture to the mid palate. Aged for 20 months in French oak, 433 cases produced.

2006 Stevens Winery 424 Red Wine $32.00
The purple-colored 424 (the winery’s Bonded number) is composed of 44% Cabernet Franc, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 13% Merlot and was aged for 20 months in 50% new oak. It emits an alluring bouquet of sage, cinnamon and vanilla, scorched earth, and black currant. On the palate it is dense, layered, and succulent with excellent focus and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. It will offer pleasure through 2020.
