Why do Merlot? Everybody gives it a bad wrap. People say, “It’s flat and boring.” Oh contraire, when it’s good, it’s really good. Washington Merlot has one of the greatest floral bouquets of any wine in the world and the ‘07 reinforces this ideal. This is a wine that you’d like to just smell forever; when it finally hits your lips, its pure joy rolled in a silky package. Many thanks go out to DuBrul and Meek Vineyard for the fabulous fruit used in this vintage. The wine laid 20 months in French oak, 50% new/50 once used. A miniscule 140 cases produced.
(A note on the label art: Once again Tim created a monster wine “Tiki” (Numero Dos- called Basketball Jones) that adorns the label. It was made from the staves of 2 full barrels and about 380 screws. 2 days and a bottle of wine later the vision was complete.)
